More pictures from the long weekend. This is from my local monthly “Cars & Croissants” show, and it was my first time actually participating.
Among the highlights were a beautiful 575M Maranello, the famous ergonomic nightmare known as the Pantera, an Audi Sport Quattro, a gen-1 Thunderbird, a BAC Mono, a Ferrari 308/328 GTS pair and a Mac P1.
Also noteworthy were the not-infrequent rev battles of sport bikes, M3s and straight-pipe Hondas in the alleys behind the show.
I have no idea what message that 350Z is trying to convey. Drift car? Liberty Walk-style show car build?
All in all, the crowd was great, the kids politely asked for revving and the drivers—at least most of them—couldn’t resist.

I've been to there many times and even went to the extent of volunteering. They show the same stuff every time. They don't let enthusiast cars in (except for the lucky opponaut with the Honda). They organize the cars beforehand.

Gotta keep the riff raff out of Santa Row.
I kid. It might probably have to do with a maturity thing.

They do have some criteria that not everyone will agree with—the website specifically calls out exotic cars as the main criteria, but what exactly is “exotic”?
On the other hand, I would say that there were plenty of “enthusiast cars” that made it in.
You’d have to be quite enthusiastic to own, say, a Pantera or a 308.

I agree 100%. I’ve taken and posted a bunch of pictures from this event. I’m getting a little bored with the usual suspects. I want to practice my photography but the backdrop, lighting and same cars are getting a little boring.
That said, are there any other events you go to? I’m curious as to what events other opponauts in the bay area attend.

I’ve been wanting to attend one of the Jalopmeets up in Redwood City, but it’s far and I haven’t made it to one yet.
I do admit that there tends to be a few too many C6s, C7s and Maserati GranTurismos at the Santana Row C&C. These things are already all over the roads in the Bay Area.

Is that the same BAC Mono as what turned up last month? I decided against attending last weekend since the last few months have been the same cars over and over again.

I honestly have no clue. I’ve only been to this about once before (as a non-participant).
I can guarantee you, however, that those two F355s have never appeared there before :)

I’ve gone to one of the BayAreaRacing (street racing questionably smart individuals) meets that usually get shut down within 2 hours. They have questionably legal meets at fish ranch.
Cars And Coffee SF this Saturday at Treasure Island. Super awesome load of cars, I’ll be there. It's way better than Croissants.

Where does one go to see these Jalopmeets? That sounds like it’d have a pretty fun turnout although not sure I’d be willing to drive all the way to Redwood City in the morning.

The SF one sounds fun. I’ll have to make the trek up there one of these days. How is parking for non-participants?
Have you gone to the Canepa C&C? I might try going to those if they continue to do it next year.

I haven't gone to Canepa, but probably will go if it doesn't conflict with the @ValleyRacing cruise which is bound to end poorly. SF one costs 10 dollars for non participants. And there, I discovered the SFPD has a early 90s GMC Denali in their inventory.

They actually meet at night. So far they appear to be on good terms with police, but it’s quite a drive after a long day. They’re always on my single-dad days, so by the time kiddo goes to bed I’m quite tired.

Interesting conversation...never been to this event and no longer live in the south bay so probably not going to drive down just for that.
In any case, a few months ago I tried setting up a Bay Area Oppo group...its still live on wheelwell, but I got super busy and couldn’t keep up trying to get people to interact, so its kind of dormant. But it is still out there if any of you are interested in trying to get some Oppo folks together. It started off as a Google group and I was surprised how many local folks are on here - happy to share admin access for either if someone wants to run with it and get oppos together for non-stupid car stuff that doesn’t have the limitation of needing to own a $500k exotic car.

Cool. Just joined the wheelwell page.
Yeah, another issue I guess is the Bay Area is so large it’s kind of difficult to have everyone willing to drive to one location. I would be very much open to attend an Oppo get together though.

I see more Aston Martins and Ferraris than C6s on South Bay roads.

I see at least one C6 every single day that I’m out on the roads in the Silicon Valley. I see a Ferrari maybe once every two weeks—my own car doesn’t count.

Please do bring this back to life. I don't think I am up for an admin role (new parent), but definitely interested in mature meets.

Definitely understand! The holidays are pretty hectic for us but I’ll do my best to get things moving again once the new year starts. In the meantime - if you have a wheelwell account, you should be able to easily find the group searching for “SF Bay Oppo”.
